Newsletter – December

Dear United Colleagues,

We are very excited to share news about our next medical education initiative being hosted by United. The event will take place in February 2023 and will focus on oncological education for early career surgeons who practice in the areas of Orthopedic Oncology and Limb Salvage.

We have an exciting faculty panel lined up and as spots are already filling up for the event, we are hopeful that this early interest alone will generate the need to make this a reoccurring annual event for continued and ongoing discussions in oncology today. Here is a look at the steps to take in preparation for this exciting event.

Step 1 (Now). Please distribute the attached Save-The-Date flyer to surgeons in your area that may have interest in attending.

Step 2 (Now). If there is interest, please reach out to your local United sales manager to let us know as soon as possible – please keep in mind space is limited.

Step 3 (January). United Marketing will send out a registration link for surgeons attending this event which link will be sent out by January.

Step 4 (Anytime). Please reach out directly to Peter at peter.waterman@unitedorthopedic.com for more details on this event.

Prospectus – Feb 2023 United Orthopedic Early Career Orthopedic Oncology & Adult Reconstruction Course

Course Objective

To create a new medical education event for orthopedic surgeons in the early part of their career specializing in orthopedic oncology, limb salvage, and/or complex revision arthroplasty. There will be a mix of didactic, cadaveric, and discussion-based content.

We have identified a shortfall of these opportunities in large part due to the COVID19 pandemic and have received feedback from several surgeons that they simply have not had enough chances or opportunities to meet, maintain, and sharpen their skill sets with respect to this subject matter.

One quote we heard was “…we are often in our own silos, often running our own program without more senior partners to serve in a mentorship role.”

Proposed Course Outline

  • Timing. February 16-18, 2023.
  • Schedule Parameters. Arrive Thursday February 16th, 2023, depart early afternoon Saturday February 18th, 2023
  • Location. Irvine, CA.
